OEM or Aftermarket, What Should You Choose?

This is one of the most common questions we get, and the honest answer depends on how long you're keeping the vehicle. OEM batteries match the exact specification your manufacturer fitted at the factory, which matters most for newer vehicles still under warranty. Aftermarket options, including well-regarded Korean brands, often deliver the same cranking performance at a lower price point, and we only stock aftermarket batteries that meet OEM-level tolerances. If your vehicle also needs a new alternator or a battery charger, replacing them together can save on a second call-out or shipping fee down the line.

Fitting and Maintaining Your New Battery

Getting the replacement right goes beyond just buying the correct size.

• Always disconnect the negative terminal first, then the positive, to avoid short circuits
• Clean corrosion from terminals and cable ends before fitting the new unit
• Check that your battery isolator switch, if fitted, is compatible with the new battery's terminal layout
• Torque terminal connections to manufacturer spec; loose connections are a common cause of premature failure
• If your vehicle has stop-start technology, confirm the replacement battery is rated for it; standard batteries often aren't
